Homecoming 2017 will be out of this world

STUDENT COUNCIL PRESIDENT Thomas Sforza (standing) points to the board and explains Homecoming week expectations during an idea sharing session with other council members. Participating in the meeting are Jake Tazelaar (Sophomore Class Representative), Abbi Haley (Secretary), Casey Cromp (Junior Class Representative), and Natalie Pacholski (Senior Class Representative).

As the school year gets into full swing, Reed-Custer students are taking the time to welcome back those who once passed through the halls of RCHS.

This is Homecoming week. And the theme for Homecoming 2017 – Comet Space Jam.

While this year’s homecoming comes earlier than usual, the students managed to keep up with the planning process, setting up a memorable week for students and alumni.

“Although we are being faced with the tough task of having homecoming so early in the year, it just makes myself and the rest of student council even more excited to make that week the best week for Reed-Custer,” said Student Council President Thomas Sforza.

Homecoming week runs through Saturday, Sept. 9. The week includes official dress up days for students, including:

Wednesday – Out of this World (Crazy hair/clothes, Alien, Space)

Thursday – Class color day (Freshmen-Orange, Sophomores-Blue, Juniors-Green, Seniors-Red)

Friday – Black and Gold day

Saturday – Homecoming dance (semi-formal dress).

A pep rally and bonfire take place on Wednesday, Sept. 6, at 6 p.m. The Homecoming king and queen will be crowned.

The Homecoming Parade will take place on Friday, Sept. 8, at 2 p.m., traveling down Main Street from Walker Street to Reed-Custer Middle School parking lot on Comet Drive.

The Comet football team takes on Peotone during the Friday night Homecoming game.

Homecoming dance tickets are on sale every day before and after school. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door.
