COAL CITY—Robert Christopher “Bobby/Bob” Tarman, 42, of Coal City, formerly of Wilmington passed away at his residence on Saturday, April 4, 2026.
Born on Aug. 6, 1983, in Joliet, Bobby was the son of Robert Charles Tarman and the late Gail Elaine (Van Duyne) Tarman. He was raised and educated in Wilmington, attended St. Rose Catholic School, and graduated from Wilmington High School with the class of 2001.

WILMINGTON—Roseanna Wallace, 96, and a lifelong resident of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 2, 2026 with her family by her side.
Born Dec. 5, 1929 in Wilmington, Rose was the daughter of Frank and Rose Chaney. She was raised in Wilmington where she attended Wilmington schools, and on Dec. 27, 1947 she married Howard Thomas "Slick" Wallace and together they continued to make Wilmington their home where they raised their family.

Gary was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, Army veteran, and dear friend, entered eternal life on April 2, 2026. He was born on Dec. 16, 1938, to Francis Leo Cooper and Nina Cooper (Gelsthorpe).

COAL CITY—Dennis Herve Comtois, 63, of Coal City, passed away on March 30, 2026 at Carle Hospital in Urbana, IL He was admitted March 1 after suffering an acute cerebral artery stroke.
He was born Nov. 29, 1962 in Whitinsville, MA to Jean Hogan and the late Ron Comtois. Dennis worked as an owner/operator and drove for most of his life. He was a new England Patriots fan during the Brady era. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and his little Chihuahua PePe dog. Dennis spent the last few years caring for his loving mother, Jean Hogan, in Gifford, IL

Born Oct. 24, 1924 to Homer and Ann (Voss) Pemble who preceded him along with his loving wife, Edna (Gunchin) (1999) and his son, Thomas (2013). Also brother, Homer Lee and sister-in-law, Faye.

COAL CITY—Bertha Lou Hodges, 83, of Coal City, passed away April 4, 2026 at home with family by her side.
She was born in Widemouth, WV on Feb. 5, 1943 to Lonnie and Irene Hodges. She had been a resident of Coal City for eight years.
Bertha was a Presbyterian and a retired CNA.
She is survived by her children: Kathy (Tim) Adkins, William (Theresa) Blisard, Tina (David) Kline; grandchildren: James Osborne, Anthony Blisard, Frank Osborne, Jesse Osborne, Leesha Long, Hazel Kline and many loving great-grandchildren and family members and friends.

WILMINGTON—Judith Ann (Mudge) McCormick, 87, of Wilmington, formerly of Decatur, IL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at Heartland Senior Living in Neoga, IL.
Born on Nov. 13, 1938, in Highland Park, MI, Judith Ann was the daughter of Winfield and Jo (Hardy) Mudge. She was raised and educated in Michigan, graduating from Ypsilanti High School with the class of 1956. She then attended Ohio University majoring in Graphic Arts.

Dave Nelson

GARDNER—Gardner feels a little quieter. On Monday, March 16, 2026, David Stuart Nelson, 83, passed away peacefully at home in the very house he grew up in.
Born in Streator in 1942 to Bernard Christian Nelson and Enola (Cumming) Nelson, Dave was a Gardner boy through and through. After graduating from GSW High School in 1960 and serving in the Illinois National Guard, he settled into the town he loved. On a crisp November day in 1969, he married Joyce Elaine Folmar at the Church of Hope, beginning a 56-year partnership defined by devotion and a shared sense of home.
