An accidental discharge of tritiated water near the blowdown line of Exelon’s Braidwood Station caused thousands of gallons of tritiated water to leak last month.
The event happened on Sunday, June 11.
According to a report issued by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), a chemistry technician reported water from the Circulating Water Blowdown valve building had been pumped onto the ground outside that building during a maintenance activity.
That leak amounted to about 35,000 gallons of water.
