An Easter Eggs-travaganza at Old Smokey!

The weather was sunny and pleasant as a record number of children turned out to enjoy a good old fashioned Easter Egg scramble at Old Smokey City Park on Saturday, April 13.

The park District hosted its annual Easter Egg Hunt, welcoming a total of 271 children to the park this year, the largest in the history of the event.

The parks provided 1,000 for each of the three age groups represented, all of which were scooped up by the exited children in just minutes.

The children also got to visit with the Easter Bunny himself.

Parks ready for new projects in 2019

It was a busy year in and around Braidwood’s parks.

The Braidwood Park District ended 2018 with several projects complete, and kick off 2019 ready to tackle more.

The Braidwood Park District is small but mighty, offering events, activities, open land, and recreation opportunities in its three parks.

“Being a very small Park District, we pride ourselves on being able to do more with less and being able to provide outdoor spaces in our community for our residents to enjoy,” Commissioner Josh Bolatto said.

Braidwood Park District sets plans for 2018

Braidwood residents have plenty to look forward to in 2018, as plans are underway to improve and upgrade local parks.

The Braidwood Park District has its eye on a number of improvements for the new year, including the continuation of work to bring some new ballfields to Old Smokey City Park.

Deal would help enforce Park District rules

The commissioners of Braidwood’s Park District are looking for a little extra help from the city when it comes to keeping park grounds safe for everyone.

On April 11, members of the City Council signed off on an intergovernmental agreement to allow the BPD to enforce state law and park district ordinances on Park District property located within the city limits.
