Wilmington man dies in house fire

An early morning house fire claimed the life of a Wilmington man on Tuesday, Dec. 14.

The Will Coroner’s Office reported Tuesday afternoon that Joseph G. Rygula, 56, was pronounced deceased at 5:59 a.m. Tuesday in the 34000 block of S Old Chicago Rd. in Wilmington,

According to the coroner’s report, Rygula was the victim of a residential fire.

The Illinois State Fire Marshall and the Will County Sheriff Police are investigating the incident.

An autopsy was conducted on Tuesday. The preliminary autopsy findings revealed Rygula sustained thermal injuries.

The final cause and manner of death will be determined at a later date pending police, autopsy, and toxicological reports.
