The nation marked Memorial Day on Monday, May 31 with a variety of ceremonies big and small across the country.
In Wilmington, Memorial Day speakers at the ceremony held Saturday following a parade included Wilmington Mayor Ben Dietz, American Legion Commander Ken Watt, Ray Ley giving the opening and closing prayer and VFW Commander Ray Ginis.
Each addressed a crowd of approximately 100 people at Memorial Park in Wilmington.
Four wreaths are placed at the Lester J. Smith - American Legion Post 19 and Malcolm J. Mayo - Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5422 memorial honoring the brave men and women who were killed while fighting for their country.
