Lady ‘Cats still out for an I-8 win

Victory eluded the Wilmington varsity girls basketball team Thursday night as they were hoping for their first conference win against Manteno.
The Lady Wildcats fell to the Panthers, 52-34, falling to 0-6 in the conference, 1-10 overall.
Wilmington found themselves trailing by four at the end of the first frame, 13-9.
From the second quarter on the Lady Wildcats  played catch-up. Unfortunately, Manteno continued to outpace Wilmington for the remainder of the game.
Chloe Sanford had a solid outing for the offense, finishing with 12 points, while Hailey Hirsch and Kiley Sowa both picked up six points.
Jordyn Reents followed with five points, Claire Rink and Emily Greer both added two points, and Megan Mann finished with one free-throw.
The Lady Wildcats will have this week off, as they prepare for the Momence Holiday Tournament, which begins on Wednesday, Dec. 27.
Wilmington will open tournament action against Tri-Point (Cullom) in the first round. That game will be held at 11:30 a.m.
The Lady ‘Cats will follow that game up with a night game on the same day against St. Anne at 7 p.m.
