Two arrested following traffic stop, drug investigation in Braidwood

A two-month narcotics investigation by officers with the Braidwood Police Department led to two arrests and the seizure of methamphetamine last week.

On Dec. 27, members of the department conducted a traffic stop on Stanley D. Cochran Jr., 53, of Braidwood, which led to his arrest for driving with a revoked license.

According to the police report, a subsequent investigation recovered more than 30 grams of methamphetamine from inside of the vehicle. Further investigation found more than 90 grams of methamphetamine located in Cochran’s residence in the 400 block of Second Street.

Cochran was charged through the Will County States Attorney's Office with the following: Possession of Methamphetamine with the Intent to Deliver (Class X); Possession of Methamphetamine (Class X); Possession of Methamphetamine (Class 3); Possession of a controlled substance (Class 4).

Cochran was transported to the Will County Adult Detention Center in Joliet and held on $300,000 bond

Also arrested on the traffic stop was Charles Kalush, 50, who as charged with possession of methamphetamine.

Braidwood Chief Todd Lyons said the traffic stop that led to the arrests of Cochran and Kalush, as well as the seizure of the illegal drugs, was the result of a two month long narcotics investigation in which three additional individuals were arrested in association with the case.

Lyons said in total, more than 130 grams of methamphetamine were seized during the course of the investigation.
