Trick-or-treat hours set

In setting this year's trick-or-treat hours, the villages of Carbon Hill, Coal City and Diamond answered the question that's been on the minds of many.
On Tuesday, Oct. 31, children can go door-to-door between 4 and 7 p.m. to collect treats from participating residents in the three communities.
Trick-or-treat hours in unincorporated Grundy County are 4 to 6 p.m.
Unit 1 Schools are also getting in the spirit of the season with Halloween themed events and parades.
Coal City High School's chapter of Future Business Leaders of America  (FBLA) will host its annual Haunted Hallways indoor trick-or-treating fundraiser Wednesday, Oct. 25,  from 4 to 7 p.m., at the school.
The cost to attend is $1 per child (free for those 3 years of age and younger) and $3 per adult. In addition to collecting candy, children can participate in games and refreshments will be available.
Additionally, the annual school Halloween costume parades around the school buildings will be held on Oct. 31 with the elementary school parade at 1 p.m. and early childhood center starting at 2 p.m.
