A call to the police by an alert citizen resulted in two arrests for theft over the weekend.

The Wilmington Police Department reported that on Saturday, Aug. 6, at approximately 3:02 p.m., officers responded to a call from a business inside the Elion Logistics Park regarding theft of construction materials in progress.

According to the police report, an alert supervisor at the site observed two male subjects loading materials believed to be stolen into the bed of a red pickup and were getting ready to leave the premises.

A supervisor from the Wilmington Police Department observed a red GMC pickup truck with expired Illinois registration leaving the vicinity and performed a traffic stop.

According to the report, cut up metal shelving units and footings that originated from the business were located in the bed of the truck. A circular saw and additional tools were located in the vehicle that were used to cut the metal shelving frames. The value of the materials exceeded $2,500.

The pair were charged with one misdemeanor count each of criminal damage to property and one felony count each of theft over $500.

Pulido-Hernandez was released Sunday after posting 10% of a $15,000 bond. Tamayo-Guzman was released on Monday after posting 10% of a $25,000 bond.
