Louis W. Wakeman

LENZBURG— Louis Walter Wakeman, 87, of Lenzburg, IL, formerly of Coal City,  born September 1, 1932 in Coal City, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at Sparta Community Hospital in Sparta, IL.
Mr. Wakeman was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Korean War. He had worked for 25 years as a coal miner with Peabody Coal and had worked for ten years at Ramme Buick in Coal City.
Mr. Wakeman was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick and Mary (Mombrum) Wakeman; first wife, Rosemary Favero; second wife, Joan Louise Moore; an infant daughter, Deborah Lynn Wakeman; an infant grandson, Michael Brainard; two sisters: Mildred (Walter) Elliot and Ella Mae (Leo) Krug; and one brother, Raymond (Josephine) Wakeman.
Louis is survived by his four children: Mary (Jeff) Jones, of Wilmington; Louis F. Wakeman, of Sparta, IL; Tina (Dan) Spinnie, of Coulterville, IL; and Rosemary (Gary) Burmaster of Coal City; one brother, Leroy (Irene) Wakeman of South Wilmington; six grandchildren: Sandra (DJ) Chapman, Daniel Babcock, Lance Spinnie, Megan (James) Krull, William (Melony) Burmaster, and Laura (Tyler) Jones; nine great-grandchildren: Samantha Day, Danielle and Gabrielle Babcock, Angela and Logan Burmaster, Kyler and Cade Krull, Molly and Zoiey Jones; and one great-great grandchild, Hayden (Babcock) Henschen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Peter U.C.C. Church in Lenzburg, IL.

Friends may call for a visitation from 2 – 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, IL.
No formal services are scheduled.
Interment will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at Braceville-Gardener Cemetery.
