Lady Wildcats claim sixth at Joliet Central tourney

    The Wilmington varsity volleyball team traveled to Joliet Central this past weekend to compete in the Joliet Central Tournament, where they earned sixth place.
    The Lady Wildcats wound up going 3-2 on the weekend, picking up wins over Bloom, Bishop McNamara and Homewood-Flossmoor. The two losses came against Chicago Christian and Lincoln-Way West.
    Wilmington defeated Bloom in three games, winning the first and third, 25-9, 15-2, while dropping the second, 25-20.
    Against Bishop McNamara, the Lady ‘Cats won in two games, 25-16, 25-7, and followed  that up with a two-game loss against Chicago Christian, 25-12, 25-11.
    The final win of the weekend came against Homewood-Flossmoor in three games, winning the second and third by close margins, 25-23, 15-13.
    In the final game of the tournament, Wilmington lost to Lincoln Way West in two games, 25-15, 25-10.
    Throughout the tournament Abby Holmes paved the way for Wilmington, finishing the day with 19 kills and 13 digs, while Carley Wilkerson earned eight kills, nine aces, 19 digs and 28 assists.
    Abby Chamberlin secured 14 kills, nine aces, 23 digs and 32 assists, while Allie Homerding led the defense with 36 digs and 10 assists.
    Maysie Feil rounded out the top stats, earning 12 kills on the day.
