Richard A. Koehler

BRAIDWOOD— Richard A. Koehler, 82, of Braidwood, passed away with his family by his side, Monday, July 29, 2019 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.
Richard was born May 29, 1937 in Cadott, WI to Benjamin and Esther (nee Peters) Koehler. At the age of 18, Richard was drafted into the Army, he was honorably discharge in 1967.
Richard was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Braidwood. He had a love for fishing and traveled all over the United States and other numerous countries such as Canada and Australia.
He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers fan. Richard was a family man, he was a very loving step-father and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the apple of his eye.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Mary A. (nee Girot) KKoehler of Braidwood, whom he married Nov. 19, 1976 in Braidwood; three children, Mary (the late Ronald) Housman of Braidwood, Lori Mack of Stonefort, and Randy Johnson of PA; eight grandchildren, Ronica (Andrew) DeMarse, Ronald (Kara) Housman, Jr., Kevin (Amber) Housman, Matthew Housman, Bryan, Brandon, Dakota, and Joshua Beegle; eight great-grandchildren, Allison, Wyatt, MaKayla, and Emma DeMarse, Ayden and Avery Housman, Hunter Housman, Ethan and Carter Slager, and Gabrielle Cromp, and bonus great great grandson Gavin Hansen; sister, Jean (Richard) Quimet of WI; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were one son, Roy Johnson; great-grandson, Colton DeMarse; brother, Dennis Koehler; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Mildred Girot.
Visitation for Richard will be at R.W. Patterson Funeral Home & Crematory, Braidwood, Friday, August 9, 2019 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. with funeral services beginning at 1 p.m. Father Robert Noesen will officiate.
Interment with military honors will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Wilmington.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the family would be appreciated.
