Fred L. Hausman

COAL CITY—Fred L. Hausman, 89, of Coal City, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at the Illinois Veteran’s Home in LaSalle.
He was born on Jan. 27, 1937 in Marion, IL to Fred and Mary “Gen” (nee Hodges) Hausman. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force from 1956-1960 and was stationed in Japan. After receiving his discharge, he worked for Carter Lumber as a bookkeeper, Fleur as a comptroller and finally for Mobil Refinery as an operator in Joliet from 1972 until his retirement in 1996. Fred married Pat G. Leroy on Sept. 7, 1968 at the First Christian Church in Joliet. Together they raised their son, Rob, and enjoyed their home on the river.
Fred had many interests and hobbies including stamp and coin collecting, gardening, tending to his flowers and enjoying his television programs and movies. He was a member of the Mason’s and had a close church family with the Faith Baptist Church in Goose Lake.
He is survived by his son and his wife, Robert and Kristi Hausman; his granddaughter, Allison Hausman; his grandson, Logan Hausman; his stepgranddaughters, Emma (Michael) Hulbert and Abby Washburn; his great-grandchildren: Jenna Hulbert, Jackson Hulbert and Cassius Thompson; his brother, George (Cheryl) Hausman and special friends Bill and Linda Maher.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 50 years, Patricia G. Hausman in 2019.
Aqua cremation rites have been accorded. A private “Celebration of Life” will be held at a later date.
