Coal City wrestlers to battle for state title

ALEC WALICZEK is one of four seniors on the Coal City wrestling team who will guide the Coalers starting Friday when the quarterfinals of the Dual Team State tourney take place in Bloomington. 

The Coal City wrestling team had advanced to the match for 1st place in the Class 1A Dual team final.

The Coalers deafeated Stanford Olympia 53-22 in the Quarterfinal Friday and this morning upended Marian (Woodstock) 35-27 in the seminfinal round to reach the final round to decide the State Championship which will be at 6 p.m. tonight at Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington, IL

Coal City will face #1 ranked Vandalia who beat #4 Tolono Unity, 33-30

The Coalers will be ready and are hoping for a large contingent of fans for the final.
