Cecilia Dobelmann

HOUSTON, TX—Cecilia Elizabeth Agamy Dobelmann, 83, passed away on Sept. 24, 2025, at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston TX.
She was born Jan. 11, 1942 in Joliet at St. Joseph Hospital to John Russell Agamy and Margaretta Mildred Mortimer Agamy. She lived in Braidwood until her early 20’s. She attended St. Francis all-girls high school. She was a long time resident of Houston and was an entrepreneur.
Over the years, Cecilia followed many creative pursuits. One of her favorites was working at the Houston Zoo as an illustrator doing black and white pointillism drawings of the animals. Cecilia was an artist at heart, and her business endeavors reflected that. First and foremost, she was an entrepreneur. Her ancestors were immigrants who started their own businesses, and they were a great inspiration to her. In 1982, she opened a boutique in Highland Village called Conceits. In it, she curated artistic wearables and designed and made formal custom fashions. In 1990, Conceits incorporated and made wholesale jewelry. Cecilia loved fashion, and was an avid collector of beads, buttons and related items. She made Native American style bead work and designed many beautiful woven beaded pieces. Cecilia was a great baker, a chocolatier, and an adventurous cook. She especially enjoyed making Southern, French, Middle Eastern, and Italian style cuisine. She did light catering and made beautiful wedding cakes for family and friends. Cecila loved sharing good food, and she was the “go-to” for family and friends seeking advice about making and serving food.
She is survived by her sister, Janet Slowinsky; daughters: Alicia Church and Therese Baker; sons: Daniel Dobelmann and Christian Dobelmann; grandchildren: Taylor Dobelmann, Sabrina Huning, Dylan Baker, Shelby Baker, Daniel Ray Dobelmann, Lena Dobelmann, John Dobelmann, and Rainer Dobelmann and her niece Georgina Kelly.
Cecilia was preceded in death by her parents, John Russell Agamy and Margaretta Mildred Mortimer Agamy, and her sons: John Russell and Russell Eric Dobelmann.
A graveside service will be held Friday, May 8th, 2026 12:00p.m., at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Braidwood. Attendees will meet at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Home in Braidwood, IL at 11:30 a.m. Then proceed with procession to Cemetery for service.
