Barbara Ann Ray

BRAIDWOOD—Barbara Ann Ray (nee Jones), 65, of Braidwood, passed away on May 19, 2023 at Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.
Born Jan. 9, 1958 in Chicago, she was the daughter of Dwight D. and Columbia Ophine (nee Thompson) Phillips. Barb attended Joliet East High School. She married Bobby E. Ray Sr. on June 12, 1999 at Pilcher Park in Joliet. She bartended for over 32 years, previously at Spivey's in Coal City. Barb enjoyed karaoke, designing jewelry, playing Yahtzee, and fund raising and organizing for the Moms of Military Prayer and Support Group.
Surviving are her children: Amanda (Rodney) Heston, of Gary, IN; William Prater III, of Joliet; Eddie Andrew Prater, of Louisville, KY; and Heidi (partner Michael) Prater, of Joliet; two brothers, Dwight Jones, of Nixa, MO and Donald E. Phillips of Texas; three sisters: Evelyn Jones, of Joliet; Vicky (Tom) Kolkind, of Lacross, WI and Anita (John) Tonelli, of Braidwood; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Bobby E. Ray Sr.; father, Dwight Jones; mother, Columbia Ophine Phillips and granddaughter, Becca Lynn Keto.
Visitation for Barbara will be at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Home & Crematory, Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 4-7 p.m. with funeral service at 7 p.m. Cremation rites will be accorded following services.
Friends and family will meet at Maple Hill Cemetery in Elwood on Saturday May 27 at 11 a.m. for Inurnment.
