The Wilmington softball team grabbed an early lead over Peotone Monday and never looked back winning 9-1.
The ‘Cats plated four early runs to take the lead before the Blue Devils were able to strike back. The Devils plated just one and the ‘Cats went on a 5-0 run to close out the ballgame.
Jenna Jackson stole home on a ball in the dirt to score the first run of the game. A batter later, that was folowed by a Grace Burkey RBI single to make it 2-0. Jackson came up big again with a two-run single in the second to make it 4-0.
