Shortly after the village of Coal City installed a vinyl fence at the corner of Chestnut and Kankakee streets, the neighbors had something to say.
The chief of police received calls from the neighborhood about the screening that went up around the lift station on the northeast corner of the intersection. According to Village Administrator Mat Fritz, “the concern, which was verified by police was that traffic approaching the intersection has a new visual impairment that required the intersection to be switched from its current 2-way stop designation to the opposite approaches.”
