ANCHORAGE, AK-Louis Michael Girot "Mike," 59, of Anchorage, AK, formerly of Braceville, passed away Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012 in Anchorage, AK. He was born Jan. 3, 1953 in Anchorage.
Mike graduated from Gardner-South Wilmington High School with the class of 1971 where he excelled in wrestling. He then attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served from 1973-1975.
Surviving are one son, Jeffrey Girot of Norcross, GA; grandson, Jeffrey Girot; his mother, Jean (nee Crater) Girot of Braidwood; one brother, James (Judi) Girot of Braidwood; his companion of 26 years, Darlene Girot of Anchorage and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding him in death was his father, Lawrence Girot.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Family will receive friends at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in South Wilmington, Monday, Nov. 26, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Rev. John Hornicak will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in his name may be made to the St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
