4/2/2013 8:35:00 PM Illiana meeting Tuesday, April 16
The Illinois Department of Transportation has scheduled a public meeting concerning the Tier Two studies for the Illiana corridor on Tuesday, April 16.
The meeting will be held open house style from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Peotone High School, 605 W. North St., Peotone.
Based on the technical analysis completed as part of the Tier One Illiana corridor studies, which were concluded in January, and public comments supporting the B3 route ending in Wilmington, the B3 corridor and a no-action alternative were carried forward into a second tier of study.
In Tier Two, the focus of the project shifted from the original 952-square mile study area to the communities, landowners and access needs along the preferred corridor.
The public will learn about the Tier Two process, which includes the refinement of the preferred corridor, proposed interchange locations and layouts, overpass and underpass opportunities and environmental analysis.
Residents can visit at any time between 5 and 8 p.m. There will be a continuous presentation, exhibits and representatives of the Illinois and Indiana departments of transportation and other study team members will be available for one-on-one discussion. A question and answer forum will be held at 6 p.m.
An identical open house will be held Thursday, April 18, at the Lowell Middle School, 19250 Cline Avenue, in Lowell, IN.
The Wilmington City Council's regular meeting has been rescheduled from Tuesday, April 16, to Wednesday, April 17 so residents and officials can attend the Illiana event. The City Council will also hold a public hearing on the city's budget on April 17, beginning at 7 p.m.
