COAL CITY-Opal Lorene Moore (nee Thompson), 87, of Coal City, passed away Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013 at her home. Born May 28, 1926 in Buena Vista, TN, she was the daughter of Ernest and Opal (nee Taylor) Thompson. Opal retired in 1992 from Caterpillar in Joliet, IL. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Wilmington, IL. She loved sewing, quilting, and watching Walker Texas Ranger. She also enjoyed traveling to Tennessee to visit her family.
Surviving are seven daughters: Margaret (Tom) Griffin of North Carolina, Joyce (George) Peterson of Oklahoma, Gerry (Wayne) Biros of Braidwood, Christine Girot of Georgia, Belinda (Norman) Lutes of Coal City, Bobbie (Brian) Nugent of Texas and Jill (Sam Hutton) Moore of Morris; one son, Larry (Wendy) Moore of Wilmington; 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Raymond E. Thompson of Tennessee and Ernest F. Thompson Jr. of Missouri; one sister, Alice Faye Rigsby of Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, one son, Terry Moore; two grandsons, Chad Caise and Shawn Moore; one brother, Robert L. Thompson and one sister, Mary L. Thompson. Cremation rites will be accorded. Memorial services will be at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Ltd. & Crematory, Braidwood Chapel, Monday, Aug. 19, 2013 at 7 p.m. with visitation two hours preceding services.
Inurnment will be held at a later date in McAuley Cemetery, Huntingdon, TN.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name to the Church of Christ in Wilmington would be appreciated.
