MORRIS-Robert William Haldorson, 80, of Morris, passed away Monday, Feb. 4, 2013 at Walnut Grove in Morris.
Born Aug. 29, 1932 in Coal City, Bob was a son of Charles and Gertrude Howard-Haldorson. He was raised and educated in the Coal City, Carbon Hill and Wilmington areas, and graduated from Wilmington High School. On Jan. 6, 1951, Bob married Genevieve Milton in Signal Hill, CA and she preceded him on Jan. 31, 2013. Bob served in the United States Naval Reserves and worked for Federal Paper Board. Most recently he held employment as a bailiff with the Grundy County Sheriff's Office, and this was a position in which he greatly enjoyed. Bob was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris, and he belonged to the Knights of Columbus. He will be remembered for his love of family and especially his grandchildren, which he adored.
Survivors include his daughter, Brenda (Daniel) Miner of Purcellville, VA; three grandchildren: Ryan (Molly) Rozich of Austin, TX; Logan Miner of Vienna, WV and Natalie Miner of Purcellville; one great-granddaughter, Sloane Elizabeth Rozich and brothers and sisters: Alice Wills, Helen Jensen, Lucille Quayle, Betty Panish, June (Leroy) Hedgecock and Ralph (Lela) Haldorson and sisters-in-law: Betty Haldorson, Phyllis Haldorson and Margaret Haldorson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dr. Robert Haldorson; wife, Genevieve; brothers: Howard, Charles, Raymond, John, Clyde and George and sister, Elsie Skubic.
Visitation and video tribute for Bob and Genevieve will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013 between the hours of 4 and 8 p.m. at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 E. Washington St., one block east of IL Route 47 in Morris.
Funeral services will follow Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 516 E. Jackson St., Morris, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Ed Howe, CR officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Morris.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Bob's memory to Immaculate Conception Building Fund, 516 E. Jackson St., Morris, IL 60450.
