ESSEX-Verneda A. Hagberg (nee Yedlicka), 74, of Essex, passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2013 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home in Joliet. Born Nov. 22, 1938 in Joliet, she was the daughter of Louis and Frances (nee Cerny) Yedlicka from Coal City.
Verneda retired from Caterpillar Inc. in Joliet, as a department head secretary in 1994 with 37 years of service. She attended Assumption Catholic Church Grade School and graduated from Coal City High School in 1956. She was a member of the St. Lawrence O'Toole Catholic Church in Essex. Verneda enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling on many European trips and cruises, and spending winters in Anna Maria, FL.
Surviving are two sisters-in-law, Doris Hagberg of Essex and Carol Stone of Bonfield, IL; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding her in death was her mother in 1952; her father in 1969; brother, Donald Yedlicka in 1968 and her husband, Victor Hagberg in 2006 with 46 years of marriage.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at the St. Lawrence O'Toole Catholic Church in Essex, Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Show Reddy Allam officiating. Interment will be at East Cemetery in Essex.
Visitation will be at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Ltd. & Crematory, Braidwood Chapel, Saturday, Feb. 2 from 9-10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the St. Lawrence O'Toole Catholic Church, Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, or American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
