MILLERSPORT, OH-James A. Vilt, 64, of Millersport, OH passed away Jan. 2, 2013. He was born May 6, 1948 in Joliet, the son of Joseph "Tut" Vilt and Mary (Pallas) Vilt.
Jim was raised and educated in Coal City. After graduating from Coal City High School, he entered the Army and later the Army Airborne serving in the Air Artillary for 18 months. He later was employed by the FBI and finished his career working for 7-eleven convenience stores eventually retiring to Ohio with some of his Army buddies.
He is survived by his brother, Keith (Jill) Vilt of Coal City; sister, Mary Ann Vilt of Morris; brother-in-law, Bill Willet; nieces: Julie (Darrin) Hutchings and Devan (Jason) Gagliardo of Coal City; nephews: Jeff (Jen) Vilt of Coal City and David (Randi) Jackman of Gardner; great-niece, Madeline Hutchings and great-nephews: Jacob, Joshua and Joseph Hutchings and Easton Jackman and special Vietnam buddy, Robert Lee of Ohio.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Madeline Jackman Willet and brother-in-law, Melvin William Jackman,
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 at 10 am at The Ferrari Funeral Chapel in Coal City. Father Brian Shepley will officiate with interment and full military honors at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL .
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at Ferrari Funeral Services, corner of Spring Road and Ferrari Drive in Coal City.
