The American Legion Koca Post #39 held its annual Christmas party and raffle at The Whistle Stop Cafe on Dec. 1. Fun and a good time was had by all.
Instead of exchanging presents, members and guests brought nonperishable food or a monetary donation for the Community Care Food Pantry in Braidwood. A large amount of food was donated by post members. Also, members donated personal care items for homeless veterans, and some cash donations were made.

The money raised will go to Post projects. One of those projects is the continued maintenance of the Reed Township Veterans Memorial. Last spring, two large granite slabs to the memorial on Main Street across from City Hall.
In order to have names placed on the memorial, veterans must have entered the Service from Reed Township and not from any other area. If possible a DD214, also known as discharge papers, should be provided to show where the person had entered the service.
Any veteran who served honorably during any time period will be allowed placement on the wall.
Anyone wishing to contribute to the Legions funds can send contributions, as well as names and information on soldiers to be added to the monument, can be sent to the American Legion Koca Post 39, PO Box 339, Braidwood, IL 60408.
