Coal City native hoists Lord Stanley at Wrigley Field

Growing up in Coal City Joe Kessler never dreamed that one day he would hoist the Stanley Cup in front of 41,000 fans at Wrigley Field.

However, last Tuesday, when the Blackhawks paid a visit to the Chicago Cubs, Kessler did just that, lifted Lord Stanley high above his head.

IHSA limits full contact during football practices
The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Board of Directors approved a joint recommendation from the IHSA Sports Medicine Advisory Committee and Football Advisory Committee to limit the number of hours and days each week that an IHSA member school football team is allowed to have full live contact during full-pad practices.

IHSA adds Sub-Sectional to bracketed sports
Beginning in 2015-16, high school baseball, basketball, soccer, softball and volleyball teams in Class 1A and Class 2A will be assigned to two Sub-Sectionals that feed into the Sectional sites.
