Lady Panthers get back in win column

The Reed-Custer seventh grade volleyball team snapped their six-match losing streak with a 25-12, 25-22 win over Pontiac Friday in Pontiac.

In the first game, Haley Hamilton hit hard at the net and had five kills. Gabby Perez and Jenny Fierro also played well in the front row each with a block and two kills.

Amber Duran helped the team with its win by serving 10 aces for the night, seven of them in the second game.

"Karina Marrs and Emily Wolf played awesome defense and showed incredible hustle throughout the game," said head coach Jen Patton.

"We played as a team and it showed through the win."

The Lady Panthers are now 6-7 on the season.

They played host to Wilmington Tuesday and will host Manteno Thursday.
