Vernon Warriner, Sr.

WILMINGTON—Vernon R. Warriner, Sr., age 88, of Wilmington, IL, passed away Monday, Aug. 21, 2017 at Symphony of Joliet.  
Born April 14, 1929 in Elwood, IL to  Vernon D. Warriner and Marie Downey-Sours.  Vernon married Nancy Seibert on May 21, 1955 in Morris, IL.  Veteran of the United States Army.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church in in Coal City, IL.  
He enjoyed spending time on the family farm, selling sweet corn, and telling stories.  He collected die cast cars.  
Surviving are his wife, Nancy; two sons, Don Warriner and Vernon R. Warriner, Jr. of Wilmington; four daughters, Verna (Adam) Clark of Custer Park, Elaine LaFlamme of Herrin, IL, Diane (Terri Poole) Warriner of Benton, IL, and Becky Warriner of Godley, IL; eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; seven sisters, Dolly (Bob) Sjostrom of Morris, IL, Lois Richmond of Wilmington, Jeanette Jones of Braceville, IL, Wanda (Willie) Stephens of Ramsey, IL, Carol (Nelson) Stephens of St. Simons Island, GA, Colette (Richard) Ekstrom of Enumelaw, WA, and Donna (Randy) Reed of Aurelia, IA; four brothers, Gerald (Glema) Sours of Ramsey, IL, Eddie Sours of Godley, IL, Gary Sours, and Gordon (Linda) Warriner of Perry, IA.  
Preceding him in death were his parents; step-father, Earl Sours, two grandsons, Adam Fay Clark, Jr. and Richard Scott Warriner; one sister, Elouise Sanor; and five brothers, Francis Sours, Raymond Sours, Maynard Sours, Lester Sours, and Douglas Warriner.  
Visitation will be at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Home & Crematory, Saturday, August 26, from 1-4 with funeral service at 4:00 p.m.  Pastor Justin Kinder and Pastor Ray Mullins will officiate.  
Cremation rites will be accorded following services.  Inurnment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL at a later date.  
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in his name may be directed to the donor's choice.
