She was raised in Joliet, graduated from Joliet Township High School with the class of 1962, and went on to attend Joliet Junior College. Over the years, Sue operated Country Sampler Antiques on Baltimore Street in Wilmington, served as treasurer for the city of Wilmington for 13 years, and drove and chauffeured the family livery. Sue was the current owner and operator of Paraphernalia Antiques, which has been an icon, as well as destination location for fine antiques, European imports and estate jewelry for over 50 years in downtown Wilmington. She was a former member of St. Edward’s Episcopal Church in Joliet, where she served as secretary and was an active volunteer for many years.
In her youth, Sue participated in road racing with the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), enjoyed dance, and always maintained a love of animals. Over the years she raised Great Danes, as well as show cats. Sue also loved the holidays, especially Halloween, and the festive windows of her shop were an example of her enthusiasm.
