Spring cleanup a go in Diamond

Free electronic recycling facility open for limited time

The village of Diamond will hold its annual spring cleanup day as scheduled for this Thursday, May 7.
Residents may place as many large items and items that need to be disposed of at the curb for pickup, with the exception of electronics. No electronics will be accepted.
Items should be placed at the curb by 6 a.m. for collection by Environmental Disposal and Recycling.
Although Diamond is moving forward with its cleanup day, the village of Coal City has issued a notice to its residents that the annual spring event has been canceled.
Coal City officials report the village is working with Waste Management to select a new date or alternate plan.
The collection of large items that are normally picked up curbside has been suspended until further notice by Waste Management.
A free electronics recycling drop off is available to local residents through May 20 at Kuusakoski Recycling, 13543 Lincoln Highway (South Route 30) in Plainfield.
The recycling site is open Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. to take items that including printers, microwaves, computers, stereo, cellular phones, cable boxes and monitors and televisions—however only one television or monitor will be accepted for recycling per car.
