Shirley E. Beasley

BRAIDWOOD—Shirley E. Beasley, 96, of Braidwood, and formerly of Wilmington, passed away Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Heritage Health in Dwight.
Born Aug. 23, 1924 in Ballard, KY, Shirley Elizabeth was a daughter of James H. and Mary (Logsdon) Miller. She was raised in Barlow, KY, and on June 7, 1941 married Herman Beasley in Jackson, MI. In addition to tending to the family home, Shirley worked for Johnson & Johnson Personal Products for 35 years until her retirement in 1999. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Coal City, took pleasure in working in the yard flower gardening, and enjoyed playing bingo.
Survivors include three children: Peggy (Ed) Hunter, of Sullivan, IL; Donald (Beverly) Beasley, of Custer Park and Karen (Jim) Rhodes, of Braidwood, as well as Jimmy Hasty, of Wilmington and Kenny (Pam) Hasty, of Norway, IL who were like sons to her; 10 grandchildren: Lori Hunter, Todd (Heather) Hunter, Corey (Lani) West, Kyle (Cres-Anne) West, Phillip Jr. (Becky) Beasley, Courtney Gerovac, Brian (Angie) Beasley, Tracy (Mike) Spangler, Kristin Rhodes and Kara (Rick) Felske; 18 great-grandchildren: Tori (Scott), Tabitha, Allie, Dylan, Charlotte, Kendall, Keira, Christopher, Stephanie, Kylie, Madison, Landon, Reece, Carter, Jackson, Tommy, Tyler and Brooklyn; two great-great-grandchildren, Aubree and Azaleigh with another on the way, and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as her special friends, Wanda Walcher and Eloise Bates.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Herman; daughters, Joyce Weeks and Mary West; sons, Phillip (Doris) Beasley and Charles Beasley in infancy; brother, James Miller and sisters, Mary Hasty and Ida Ward.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Friday, April 9, 2021 from 1 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 3 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 E. Kahler Rd. in Wilmington. Pastor Jeff Urban will officiate.

Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Wilmington, where Shirley will be laid to rest with her late husband, Herman.
Pallbearers will be: Jimmy Hasty, Kenny Hasty, Todd Hunter, Brian Beasley, Reece Spangler and Carter Spangler.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Shirley’s memory to a charity of the donor’s choosing.
