Sheila A. Carroll

DIAMOND—Sheila A. Carroll, 70, of Diamond, passed away Friday, Sept. 6, 2019, at OSF Hospital in Peoria, surrounded by her family.
She was born June 8, 1949 in Chicago to Anthony and Philomena Coyle. She was raised in Evergreen Park and graduated Evergreen Park High School class of 1967. Sheila married Michael “Mike” Carroll on June 17, 1972 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Evergreen Park. Together they raised their three children in the Coal City area. Sheila had a bachelor's degree from St Francis College of Nursing and a master's degree in Health Services Administration from University of St. Francis. She was a nurse for 27 years with time spent at Loyola Medical Center, Morris Hospital and ending her career in private practice with good friend and colleague, Dr. John Bolden.
Sheila was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan and loved to watch her children and grandchildren compete in athletics. Her hobbies were scrapbooking, crafting and doing genealogy. Her greatest joys were traveling with her husband, spending time with her family, and above all else all her grandchildren. Sheila's smile was contagious, and she made a positive impact on every person she met personally and professionally.
Sheila is survived by her husband, Michael “Mike” Carroll; her children: Mike (Tara) Carroll, of Bourbonnais; Colleen (Curt) Hansen, of Wilmington and Chris (Jennifer) Carroll, of Peoria; her grandchildren: Mikey Carroll, Everly Carroll, Easton Carroll, Carsyn Hansen, Nathan Carroll, Adelynn Carroll and her brother, Kevin Coyle.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Anthony and Philomena Coyle and her sister, Eileen Quinn.
The family would like to acknowledge the exceptional care given at Morris Hospital, Morris Hospital Pulmonary Rehab, Loyola Hospital and OSF Peoria Hospital.
Memorials in Sheila's name may be directed to the family for later disbursement.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2019 at the Ferrari Funeral Chapel, 1044 Ferrari Dr., Coal City. Funeral Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019 at the Ferrari Funeral Chapel with Deacon William Dunn officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 917 Pearl St., Wilmington.
