Ronald D. Kyrouac

MORRIS—Ronald D. Kyrouac, 88, of Morris, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2022 at his home.
Born Dec. 5, 1933 in Harvey, IL, Ronald Dale was a son of Viator and Yvonne (Chantome) Kyrouac. He was raised in Harvey and graduated from Thornton High School. Ron then served honorably in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. He gained employment with Commonwealth Edison and worked for them for 40 years, retiring in 1992 as a Nuclear Quality Program Supervisor. Ron was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Morris and the Morris American Legion Post 294. He was a regular with the Romeo Breakfast Group and an active participant of the Classic Thunderbird Club, rarely missing a Morris Cruise Night in his Red 1955 Ford Thunderbird.
Whether it was N Gauge model train sets and oil paintings, or off-roading and rock hunting, Ron was a man of many talents and interests. He was an avid fisherman and never missed his annual fishing trip to Lake of the Woods Canada for 50 years. Ron's greatest passion was family, always setting a great example and source of wisdom to his children and grandchildren. He loved traveling with his wife across country and overseas, constantly searching for that next great adventure.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Karen Kyrouac, of Morris; three children: Pennie (Jim) Guske, of Keedysville, MD; Cindie (Jeff) Haddon, of Coal City and Craig (Autumn) Kyrouac, of Wildomar, CA; four grandchildren: Heather (Chris) Worcester, Brooke Kyrouac, Krissie Haddon, and Jamie Guske; one great-grandchild, Blayke Worcester; two sisters-in-law: Virginia Olson and Connie Jenkins and several nieces and nephews.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Bernie Kyrouac and Viator Kyrouac; one sister, Sylvia Paglash, and his first wife, Sally Kyrouac.
Per Ron's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation on Monday, July 18, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 600 E. Jackson St. in Morris from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, and inurnment with full military honors will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Ron's memory to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s or Operation St. Nick of Grundy County.
