Robert H. Inman

MICHIGAN—Robert Hugh Inman, 93, of Porter Hills, Grand Rapids, MI, passed away Thursday April 13, 2017. He was born in Cuba, IL on Dec. 20, 1923 to Charles and Margaret Inman.
Robert was a former Coal City resident and Coal City High School graduate. He served as a lieutenant in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He fulfilled his duty as lead navigator in the 95th Bomb Group, based in Horham, England and was with over 30 missions over Germany. He attended the University of Illinois and graduated with a BS in engineering. Robert worked at United Electric Coal Company, Material Service, W.R. Grace, and the US Office of Surface Mining. He became a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
He was the beloved husband of Elaine Carlson Inman and later of Sally Mitts Inman. Robert will be lovingly remembered by his sister, Margaret (Inman) Beling of Hollister, MA and his friend, June McLuckie of Coal City. His memory will comfort his children: Gail Inman of Evanston, IL; Robert (Marilou) Inman of Rochester Hills, MI; Todd Inman of San Jose, CA and Joyce Inman of Austin, TX as well as his step-children: Steve (Judy) Rouse, Jeffrey Rouse and Greg (Kathy) Rouse; grandchildren: Tonya (Chris) VanderSlice; Christopher Rouse; Lindsay (John) Krattenmaker, and Matthew Rouse; great-grandchildren: Van and Lily Krattenmaker and Hannah and Elizabeth VanderSlice.
A memorial service with military honors was held Saturday, April 22. 2017 at The Meeting House at Porter Hills.
