Richard I. Scott

COAL CITY—Richard I. “Scotty” Scott, 92, of Coal City, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021.
He was born in Chicago on May 15, 1929 to Adam and Hollis (nee Rice) Scott. He served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps and was a Veteran of the Korean War. He retired from ComEd after 39 years as a Lineman. He was past commander of Cantigny Post #367 from 1956-1957 and was the youngest to serve in that position in the State of Illinois.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Karolyn; his daughter, Karen Block; his sons, Richard E. Scott and Michael A. Scott and two wonderful in-laws, Michael Block and Colette (Reid) Scott, special thanks to both of them. Also surviving are his grandchildren; Erik and Nicholas Block, Taylor and Reid Scott, Emma Scott; his two step-children, Philip (Jennifer) Timm and Karen Timm (Jason) Ruggio; his grandchildren: McKinley Ann Timm, Joshua, Zachariah, Ethan and Lukas Timm and his great-grandson, Liam Timm.

Cremation rites have been accorded.
A Memorial Visitation will be on Friday, Oct. 8, 2021 at Ferrari Funeral Services, 1044 Ferrari Dr., Coal City from 4 p.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 7 p.m. with Pastor Bradley Shumaker officiating.
A private family inurnment with full military honors will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at a later date.
