PFC Alexander Samul-Lee Armstrong

COAL CITY— PFC Alexander Samul- Lee Armstrong, 18, of Coal City, passed away Monday, Sept. 24, 2018 in Lawton, OK.
Alex was a member of the National Guard since 2017 and recently a Private First Class in the United States Army, he would have advanced to specialist the day of his passing.  Alex was a graduate of the Coal City High School class of 2018.  He was on the high school soccer team, choir, and enjoyed the performing arts.  He was a member of the Footnotes in Coal City and was recently employed for I-80 Vapors in Morris.
Anyone that knew Alex would say he was a complete clown.  He had a knack for enjoying life to the fullest and making any situation comically the best.  Not only was he our hero for joining the armed forces, but at his passing he gave seven people the gift of life through organ donation.
Surviving are his parents, Heather and Larry Mazikoske of Coal City; sister, Alyssa Armstrong of Coal City; brother, Jacob Mazikoske of SanDiego, CA; paternal grandfather, William “Sonny” Armstrong of Braidwood; paternal grandmother, Janice Mazikoske of Tinley Park; maternal grandmother, Joyce Ferrari of Campus; special aunt and uncle, Valerie and Kevin Wharrie; special cousins: Gabbie, Dominic, and Jak; along with other numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; best friends: Hunter Bannon, Jake Caher, Jada Smith, Sean McGouirk, Keaton Cryder, Trevor McIntire, and Cassidy, along with several other close friends.
