Marlene M. Martinez

WILMINGTON—Marlene M. Martinez,  85, of Wilmington, formerly of Joliet, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Silver Cross Hospital with family at her side.
Marlene enjoyed fishing in Wisconsin and taking pontoon rides on Lake Castlerock, gambling at Ho-Chunk Casino, cooking for anyone and everyone, visiting and gossiping with the family and fussing over her grandchildren, to name a few. Marlene was a faithful and spiritual person, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be missed.
She is survived by her children, Ron Martinez of Manhattan and Mary (Frank) Studer of Wilmington; grandchildren: Shannon and Mackenzee Martinez, Nicole Stroud, Jimmy and Ben Studer and Morgan Martinez; great-grandchildren: Dante and Damien Godina, Allyson Martinez and Lainey and Hayden Stroud; sisters, Fran Moody and Eleanor Rousonelos; brother-in-law, Raymond Martinez and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Oliver "Babe" Martinez; her son, Kenneth A. Martinez; grandson, Ryan James Martinez and her faithful canine companion, Buddy.  
Funeral services for Marlene will be Saturday, April 8, 2017, 12 p.m. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, 507S. State St., Manhattan. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Private inurnment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at a later date.
