Marie T. Hehn

WILMINGTON—Marie T. Hehn, 82, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, September 22, 2017 at her home.
Born July 21, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois, Marie was a daughter of the late Edward and Julia (Sulek) Becka. She was raised in Chicago and went on to work at National Can Company, from where she retired. Marie was a member of Saint Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington, where she was active with the CCW and volunteered for Kuzma Care Cottage. Survivors include nieces and nephews: Linda (Bud) Meier of Tinley Park, Sandra Kurtis, Debra Kurtis and Robert Kurtis, all of Chicago, Edward (Shirley) Shilka of Justice, Tony (Audrey) Shilka of Stevens Point, Wisconsin and John (Darlene) Shilka of Midlothian, and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jacob “Jack” Hehn on February 24, 2002, and two sisters: Rita (Eugene) Shilka on May 1, 1997 and Jeanne (Nicholas) Kurtis on January 6, 2004. Per Marie’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017 at 10 a.m. in Saint Rose Catholic Church, 604 S. Kankakee St. in Wilmington. Reverend Sebastian Gargol will preside. A private family inurnment will be in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Justice, where Marie will be laid to rest with her late husband, Jack. Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Marie’s memory to Kuzma Care Cottage or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
