Mariano Hernandez

BRAIDWOOD—Mariano Vega Hernandez, “Mike the Fisherman,” 74, of Braidwood, passed away Friday, April 6, 2018 at his home with his family by his side.
Born April 9, 1943 in Santurce, Puerto Rico, he was the son of Juan and Adela (nee Vega) Hernandez. He married Luella Crater in 1967 in Chicago, IL.  He was an avid fisherman and member of the Roman Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife, Luella Hernandez; sons: Edward (Elizabeth), of Florida; Jeffrey (Lisa), of Orlando, FL and Tim (Lisa), of Braidwood; daughters: Tina (Chino), of Plainfield; Martha (Leonard), of Shorewood and Amanda (William), of South  Carolina; sisters: Rosa (Jaime), Lydia and Carmen, all of Chicago and Maria (Manuel), of Florida; brother, Francisco (Sandra), of Chicago; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  
He was preceded in death by his son, Andrew; his parents, three brothers and one sister.  
Funeral services will be at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Braidwood Friday, April 13, 2018 at 11 a.m. with Father Robert Noesen officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Braidwood.      Visitation will be at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Home and Crematory Thursday, April 12 from 5-9 p.m. and Friday, April 13 from 10-10:45 a.m.
