Lois Hall

CUSTER PARK—Lois Jean Hall, 92, of Custer Park and formerly of Braceville, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at her home.
Born Aug. 27, 1928 in Verona, IL, Lois Jean was a daughter of Morrison and Myrtle Finch. She was a graduate of Mazon High School, where she began her love of singing. In addition to singing in high school, Lois was proud to have sang on WGN for Don McNeill’s Breakfast Club. She went on to marry Duain “Fat” Hall and together they raised five children.
Lois loved many hobbies. She sewed all her children’s clothes as they were growing up, then started ceramics, quilting, and jewelry making. Her greatest hobby however, was her love of china painting. Lois started classes and then as she progressed, began teaching to other people including her daughters. She was president of her China Guild, and served one year as president for the Illinois China Convention.
Lois played the organ and piano at Custer Park Baptist Church and sang solos at church for many funerals. She also sang for many special events at Phelan Acres Baptist Church. She was a born-again Christian and throughout her life taught Sunday School, Bible School and helped with Bible Study with many adult classes.
Survivors include three children: Rick (Pam) Hall, of Custer Park; Donna Buza, of Braidwood and Debra (Frank) Halpin, of Gardner; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren, and one sister-in-law, Adeline Hall, as well as many nieces, nephews and China Painting Friends.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Duain “Fat” Hall; two daughters, Jean Leranger and Bonnie Weatherhead; all of her siblings and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
The family will receive friends for a visitation at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 E. Kahler Rd. in Wilmington on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 from 9 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Pastor Rodney Chappell will officiate.
Burial will follow in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery, where Lois will be laid to rest with her late husband.
Pallbearers will be: Dana Leranger, Scott Halpin, Chris Halpin, Eric Hall, Shawn Hall, Ryan Hall, Robbie Buza and Jacob Weatherhead. Honorary pallbearer will be Tyler Weatherhead.
Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers many be made as gifts in Lois’ memory to Lightways Hospice (Joliet Area Community Hospice) 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431.
