Linda Zimmer

REDDICK—Linda Marie Zimmer, 78, of Reddick, passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019 at Heritage Health in Dwight surrounded by her family.  
Born on March 19, 1940 in Morris, she was the daughter of Vernon and Alice (nee Curl) Bossert. She attended Reddick High School and graduated with the class of 1958 and then attended Illinois State University and graduated with the class of 1962 with a major in home economics. Right after college she taught home economics at Reddick High School for five years and then she was a kindergarten aid for 12 years as well as a substitute teacher.
Linda married Arnold Edwin Zimmer on Aug. 20, 1961 at Zoar EUB Church in Reddick.  She was a very big part of the Reddick United Methodist Church and together with her husband was a youth leader for over 20 years. They took youth on many work projects all over the country. She taught many Sunday School classes, organized and lead many Vacation Bible Schools each summer and organized many family and church dinners and events at the church.  She was a 4-H and HEA member and leader from 1967 until 2001.  Linda was a very good cook and seamstress and judged many food and clothing competitions at county fairs. She also loved to grow flowers and gardening.
Surviving are her husband, children: Jason D. (Dianna) Zimmer, of Reddick; Regena (Daniel) Cromp, of Braidwood and Rodney (Lora) Zimmer, of Tuscola, IL; eight grandchildren: Tara, Eron, Justin, Kate, Drew, Kyle, Casey and Emma; four great-grandchildren: Ellie, Cody, Tyler and Blake; brother, Michael (Kitty) Bossert, of Kankakee; sister, Kay (Neil) Deupree, of Janesville, WI and many nieces and nephews.  
Preceding her in death were her parents and daughter, Lucinda M. Zimmer.
Funeral services will be at the Reddick United Methodist Church on Friday, Jan. 18, 2019 at 11 a.m. with visitation beginning one hour before the service. Pastor Kevin Boesen will officiate.
Visitation will be at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019 from 4 to 8 p.m.
Cremation rites will be accorded following services.
Private inurnment at a later date at Grand Prairie Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the Reddick United Methodist Church or Parkinson’s Disease research.
