Kimberly Solley

BRAIDWOOD—Kimberly “Kim” Solley, 59, of Braidwood, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, July 21, 2019 at her home.
Born Jan. 5, 1960 in Orland Park, Kimberly Jean was a daughter of Raymond and Nancy (Bombard) Marquardt.
She was raised and educated in Orland Park and graduated from Carl Sandburg High School with the class of 1978. Kim went on to work as a paramedic and a medical assistant for a number of years. It was during that time that she met Harold Solley, and on Valentine’s Day in 2009 they were happily married in the Shepherd of Peace Lutheran Church in Braidwood.
In her later years Kim worked as a school bus driver and in her free time enjoyed, quilting, crocheting, knitting and other assorted craft projects. Kim’s favorite times were always with her family, especially her grandchildren who she was deeply devoted to.
Survivors include her husband, Harold; grandchildren: Damien, Sadie, Ethan and Carter; children: David “D.J.” (Danielle) Slager and Amiejean V. Slager; siblings: Judith (Ronald) Brown, Ray (Linda) Marquardt and Brent (Michelle) Marquardt; nieces and nephews: Joseph (Kellie), Timothy, Matthew, Jason, Will, Shane, Molly, Meredith, Tiffany, Sonny and Stephen; great nieces and nephews: Reese, Rylie and Gavin; mother-in-law: Geraldine Solley; sister-in-law: Pamela (Stan) Lasinas; brother-in-law: Richard (Janine) Solley, and the father of Kim’s children: David Slager.
Kim was preceded in death by her parents, father-in-law: Harold Solley, Sr. and brother-in-law, Stephen Solley.
Per Kim’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation on Friday, July 26, 2019 from 5 p.m. until time of service 7 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made as gifts in Kim’s memory to the family for the continual care of her grandchildren.
