Karen Sue Hagerman

MORRIS— Karen Sue Hagerman (nee Smith), 76, passed away after a long illness on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2020, at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.
Karen was born in Lincoln, NE on Feb. 28, 1943, the daughter of the late Raymond and Vivian (Green) Smith. Being the daughter of an Air Force Veteran, Karen had the opportunity to live in various cities throughout the country. She has been residing in Morris for the past 10 years.
A hardworking mother of five, Karen always took care of her family and loved them more than anything. She retired from RR Donnelly in Dwight after several dedicated years as a Material Handler. In her free time, she enjoyed old movies, Jeopardy, crosswords, bingo, playing cards and playing games on her phone, but most importantly, she enjoyed every minute that she spent with her grandchildren. She never missed an opportunity to visit, bring gifts, and spread her love to those around her. Her legacy will live on in the many lives she touched.
Karen is survived by her four children: Thomas Hagerman, Edward Hagerman, Tina Fonck, and Laura Stroud; 16 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; siblings: Gary (Sue) Smith, Marsha (Lonnie) Vaughn, Kendall (Sun Cha) Smith, and Kathleen (Greg) Brandon; and sister-in-law, Janet Smith. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Marla Hagerman; brother, Ronald Smith; and four nephews: Ronald, Raymond, and Dennis Smith, and Lonnie Joe Vaughn.
Funeral services for Karen Sue Hagerman will be held privately by the family and interment will take place at a later date at Braceville Gardner Cemetery.
