Kali Strong

WILMINGTON—Kali Strong, 29, of Wilmington, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.
Born Dec. 30, 1991 in Kankakee, Kali Josie was a daughter of Adeline “Vicki” (nee Marrs) and James Martin Strong Sr. She was raised in Wilmington as the youngest of seven children, and was a member of First Christian Church in Wilmington. Though Kali was handicapped and blind, she persevered through her life’s obstacles, all while managing to flourish and not let the challenges overwhelm her. She could find her way unassisted through the family home, and had a love of music and musical toys. Kali had a big personality and was vocal about whatever she was thinking or needed, and held a special place in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her mother, Vicki Strong, of Wilmington; four brothers and two sisters: James M. (Paula) Strong Jr., of Carol Stream; Rosalind D. Strong, of Bourbonnais and Brian D. (Shellise) Strong, Kari B. Strong, Steven J. Strong and Timothy J. Strong, all of Wilmington; one niece and two nephews: Trevor Strong, of Dwight and Hayleigh (Cole) Thompson and Cole Strong, both of Wilmington; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Kali was preceded in death by her father, Jim Strong Sr. on June 25, 2020.
The family will receive friends Monday, Aug. 2, 2021 at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 E. Kahler Road, in Wilmington from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 12 p.m. Pastor Jason Pace from First Christian Church in Wilmington will officiate, and burial will immediately follow at Oakwood Sunset Cemetery in Wilmington.
