James Henke Sr.

WILMINGTON—James Henke Sr., “Jim,” 70, of Wilmington, passed away Friday, June 28, 2019 at his home.
Born Sept. 26, 1948 in Joliet, James Brian was a son of LeRoy and Annabelle (nee Hutton) Henke. He was raised and educated in Wilmington and graduated from Wilmington High School with the class of 1966. Jim was a member of Laborer’s Union Local 75, and was a self-employed farmer. He attended Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Wilmington where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. In his free time, Jim enjoyed go-cart racing and drag racing. He also had an appreciation for firearms, and looked forward to having opportunities to use them for sport.
Survivors include his wife, Pamela (Buis) Henke; his children: Monica (Kevin) Josupait, of Garner, NC; James (Michelle) Henke Jr., of Morris; Nicole Adams, of Braidwood; Anthony Henke, of Coal City; Tracey (Robert) Jakubowski, of Goose Lake and Robert (Karon) Buis, of Gardner; 13 grandchildren: Andrew, Alyssa and Aryn Josupait; Jessie, Benjamin and Jordan Henke; Rachel, Joshua and Ellie Adams Olivia and Sophia Jakubowski and Chase and Lexi Buis; four brothers: Donnie Henke, of Tennessee; Lee (Fannie) Henke, of Wilmington; Robert (Sandy) Henke, of Yorkville and Jerry Henke, of Bourbonnais; one sister, Pat Dooley, of Wilmington; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: Dennis (Heidi) Kosch, of Blue Eye, MO; Gayle (Douglas) Haberkorn, of Hudson, FL and Karen Blazekovich, of Apache Junction, AZ, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends, including: Mike Kavanaugh, Chuck Frantini, Pete Kengis, Dan Weir, Jamie Reetez, Timmy Kallas and Bob Rink Sr.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
Per Jim’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation on Friday, July 5, 2019 at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 E. Kahler Rd., in Wilmington from 9 a.m. until the time of memorial service at 11 a.m. Reverend Sebastian Gargol from St. Rose Catholic Church will preside. Inurnment will follow the services in Oakwood Sunset Cemetery, and the family will host a memorial luncheon in St. Rose School after the graveside services.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Jim’s memory to: Grundy County 4-H Association or to Saint Rose Catholic School in Wilmington.
