Ida Smith

WILMINGTON— Ida Smith, 79, of Wilmington and formerly of Chicago, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2020 at AMITA Health St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.
Born December 13, 1940 in Chicago, Ida was a daughter of Olinto and Maria Campana. She was raised and educated in Chicago, where she met her husband, Bill Smith. They were married on April 23, 1960. Ida was employed by Weigh Right Scale Company in Joliet as a bookkeeper and accountant, and was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington.
Ida enjoyed listening to Classic Rock music;  was a fan of The Beatles, and in past years enjoyed oil painting. She loved watching movies and cherished spending time with her family.
Survivors include her three sons: Tom (Gretchen) Smith, of Tampa, FL; and Chuck Smith and Tony Smith, both of Chicago; one grandson, Matthew Smith, of Tampa, FL; and her neighbor, close friend and caregiver, Ray Atchey.
Ida was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Smith, and her sister.
Private family services will be held, and Ida will be laid to rest with her husband at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Wilmington.
