Ethel Kavanaugh

WILMINGTON—Ethel "Punkin" Kavanaugh, 70,  of Wilmington, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2017.
Born Sept. 14, 1946 in Danville, IL, Ethel May was a daughter of the late James J. and Dorothy J. (Hansbrough) Ritter. She was a lifetime member of New Lenox Sportsman's Club (Meneoka), and took pleasure in camping, fishing and mushroom hunting. Punkin also enjoyed gardening, and will be remembered for her love of spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband Michael A. Kavanaugh, Sr., whom she married August 11, 1983; six children: Twila Charest of Poplar Bluff, MO, LaDawn (Ronnie) Henderson and Chad Waldron, both of Braidwood, Michael Kavanaugh, Jr. and Jennifer Kavanaugh, both of Wilmington and Justin Kavanaugh of South Wilmington; 18 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren, and two brothers: Steve Ritter of Alabama and Ben Moore of Danville, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Punkin was preceded in death by her parents, and her former husband Leonard C. Waldron and her brother, James J. Ritter.
Visitation and video tribute will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2017 from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service 1 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington.
Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Sunset Addition in Wilmington.
Pallbearers will be: Randy Williams, Joe Ingram, Andy Lucky, Ray Page, Terry Geiss, Danny Tvrz, Brett Henderson and Brandon Henderson.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made as gifts in Punkin's memory to her family for their distribution.
