Dusty Hinds

FAYETTE, MO—Elmer Eugene “Dusty” Hinds, 94, of Fayette, formerly of Wilmington, Illinois and Osage Beach, Missouri, passed away July 30, 2017 at Cooper County Memorial Hospital.
Born Nov. 18, 1922 in Marion, Ohio. Dusty was a son of Virgil and Vesta Williamson Hinds. He was married Phyllis Thompson. Prior to retirement, he was the Assistant Post Master at Wilmington.  Dusty was a U.S. Army World War II veteran.
Dusty served as a deacon at First Baptist Church in Wilmington.  Dusty and his wife, Phyllis had served in the mission field as dorm parents in Israel and in London, Kentucky at Cleft Rock Retreat.  He was an avid sports fan and a life-long Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; his children: Kurt (Tamara) Hinds of Fayette,  MO; Shelly (Charles) Phillips of Osage Beach, MO; five grandchildren: D.J. (Aura) Hinds, Zach Phillips, Jake (Bree) Phillips, Stephanie Hinds, Meg (Fiance Joe) Behle; great grandchildren: Braxton Phillips, Emma Behle and Andrew Behle.
Dusty was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Brian Hinds and a brother, Warren Hinds.
Services honoring his life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017 at Horseshoe Bend Baptist Church, 394 Duckhead Road, Lake Ozark, MO, 65049.
