Dean Bird

Pinckneyville, IL— Dean Bird, 81, of Pinckneyville, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2019 in the DuQuoin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Dean was born in Pinckneyville on June 5, 1938, a son to Hershel and Gladys (Heine) Bird. In October 1957, he married Sharon Corlett in Wilmington, she survives. He worked as a welder at Caterpillar for 37 years. Dean was a member of the football chain gang in Wilmington, enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved spending time with this family.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Sharon Bird, of Pinckneyville; a son, Bill (Carla) Bird, of Pinckneyville; a daughter, Dawn Spalding, of Manteno; six brothers, Arthur (Essie ) Bird, of Pinckneyville, Norman Bird, of Tamaroa, IL, Pete (Madelyn) Bird, of Manhattan, IL, Orange (Mary) Bird, of Pinckneyville, Skip (Karen) Bird of Pinckneyville, and Rich (Jane) Bird of DuQuoin, IL; two sisters, Marie Hutchings, of Pinckneyville, and Arthie (Frank) Buschschulte, of Tamaroa; a sister-in-law, Ann Marie Bird, Pinckneyville; four grandchildren, Aubrie (Shane) Maxey, of Pinckneyville, James Bird, of Vietnam, Brandon (Samantha) DeMik and Madison Spalding, of Manteno; and four great-grandchildren, Riley Maxey, Logan Maxey, Carson DeMik and Callie Bechard.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, John Bird and a brother and sister in childhood.
Visitation will be at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m.
